"Addressing social media aspects was and will continue to be an ongoing discussion amongst the CSA N1600 TC (Emergency Management for Nuclear Facilities) as well.  The recently published CSA N1600-14 (General Requirements for Nuclear Emergency Management Programs) contains requirements for defining and maintaining a social media policy and related procedures (Clause 4.3.8), as well as defining and implementing testing cycles for social media networks (Clause 4.3.9), and defining accountabilities and a documented process for preparing, approving, and disseminating information to both traditional media and social media (Clause 4.5.10.1).  The committee definitely recognized how critical it is to address social media.  The TC will be starting work on a New Edition this fall, and I'm confident that members will continue to discuss this rapidly evolving and essential topic!"

And as a member of the Z-1600 emergency and continuity management program technical committee I would like to add that this technical committee will be meeting in October to start work on the next version of the standard and I expect it will likewise be putting some focus on social media. Hopefully the efforts of these various committees and CanVOST can somehow be coordinated to to develop the best possible solutions.
