Background information on Partnerships Toward Safer Communities Online
Partnerships Toward Safer Communities (PTSC) was formed by the Major Accidents Council of Canada (MIACC) to help prevent and improve response to major industrial accidents in Canada, such as happened in Bhopal India in 1986. The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs (CAFC) acquired PTSC when MIACC ceased operation in 1999 and operated it for two years when operation was suspended due to a funding shortfall. With financial support from Public Safety Canada, CAFC ihas now launched a modern efficient version of the program. Known as PTSC-Online it takes advantage of current standards and accreditation programs, continues its focus on using stakeholder collaboration to improve emergency management and uses a state of the art on line collaboration technology to operate and administer the program in the most effective and efficient manner.
